Scholarship Program

About the Program

In line with the visionary directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research — may God preserve him — which support education and academic empowerment, the Scholarship Programs were launched as a noble initiative in 1997. The aim is to provide high-quality educational opportunities for outstanding students, enable them to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and prepare qualified national competencies that contribute to serving society and supporting sustainable development in the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates.

The Scholarship Programs represent one of the leading strategic initiatives that reflect Sharjah’s commitment to investing in human capital as the main driver of development and progress, by providing academic support and enabling students to enroll in leading higher education institutions within the emirate.

Higher Education Institutions Covered by the Program

The Scholarship Program receives applications from eligible categories who meet the program’s requirements and regulations to study in the following institutions in Sharjah:

  1. University of Sharjah
  2. American University of Sharjah
  3. University of Khorfakkan
  4. University of Kalba
  5. Al Dhaid University
  6. University of Fine Arts in Sharjah
  7. Sharjah Maritime Academy
  8. Sharjah Academy for Police Sciences

The program aims to support eligible groups according to approved policies and regulations, providing distinguished educational opportunities and enabling students to complete their academic journey in leading institutions in Sharjah.

Scholarships Department

The Scholarships Department, under the Student and Alumni Affairs Administration at the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research, is responsible for managing and organizing scholarship programs and overseeing the implementation of related policies and regulations, ensuring the program’s objectives are achieved and access to higher education is enhanced for eligible groups.

The department receives and reviews scholarship applications, verifies eligibility, and manages nomination and admission procedures in coordination with relevant institutions. It also monitors scholarship recipients throughout their academic journey, including tracking academic performance and ensuring compliance with scholarship continuation requirements.

The department supervises undergraduate scholarships at: University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, University of Khorfakkan, Al Dhaid University, University of Kalba, University of Fine Arts in Sharjah, and Sharjah Maritime Academy.

It also oversees postgraduate scholarships at: University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, and Sharjah Academy for Police Sciences.

The department is committed to promoting fairness, transparency, and efficiency, enhancing procedures and services, supporting student success, improving higher education outcomes, and preparing highly qualified national professionals.

Undergraduate Scholarships

The program offers outstanding students from approved categories the opportunity to enroll in undergraduate programs at the following institutions:

Postgraduate Scholarships

The program also provides opportunities for eligible candidates to pursue postgraduate studies to build specialized national expertise and support research and innovation in Sharjah.

  • Children of imams and muezzins affiliated with the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah
  • Students with disabilities registered with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services

Requirements

  • Must have a high school certificate meeting the minimum required average for each institution/program
  • Must be a current academic year graduate
  • Must obtain admission from one of the listed institutions
  • Must complete the application and upload all required documents online during the application period
  • Must meet all scholarship policies and regulations

Second: Postgraduate Scholarships

  • UAE nationals (Sharjah family book holders)
  • Children of Emirati mothers in Sharjah

Requirements

  • Admission from an approved university
  • Complete application and submit documents online during July 2026
  • Meet all institutional scholarship conditions

Scholarship Coverage Percentage

The scholarship percentage is determined based on the monthly income level of the parent or guardian, as follows:

  • A full scholarship (100%) is granted for undergraduate and postgraduate programs if the monthly income is less than AED 50,000.
  • A partial scholarship (50%) is granted for undergraduate and postgraduate programs if the monthly income is AED 50,000 or more.
  • For children of imams, the scholarship for undergraduate programs is set at 25% per academic semester, with a maximum of 50% per academic year, excluding the summer term, in accordance with the Council's approved policy.

Application Periods

Applications for the Scholarship Programs are open from July 1 to July 31 through the electronic portal of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Applicants are required to complete the scholarship application and upload all required documents within the specified application period. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Applicants are advised to review the eligibility requirements and criteria carefully and ensure all conditions are met before submitting their application, to facilitate proper evaluation and selection in accordance with the approved policies and regulations.
